End to end it runs past 40 cm. The blade is 3 mm thick and roughly 6 cm across, so the part that lands is broad rather than narrow.
A wide, thick blade carries more of the paddle's own weight into the strike. That is where the deep, resonant thud in the official description comes from — a thin blade gives you a sharp snap instead.

The Grip Does Half the Work
Flat leather strips are plaited over a core and pinned at both ends with silver rivets. The result is a handle with real texture that stays put in a sweaty hand, and one that is thicker than the blade.

Aim the Blade, Not the Handle
The handle is the thicker end, so your grip stays the pivot and the flat blade stays the part that lands. Follow through and the strike travels across an area instead of landing in one spot.
Keep It on Your Wrist
The leather loop at the end of the handle slides over a wrist and hangs there between strikes. Your hands stay free without putting the paddle down.

Stop at a warm, flushed pink and leave it there for the first session. Sharp pain means you have gone past what this paddle is for, so treat that as the ceiling rather than a target.

Black Leather, Red Lacing, Silver Hardware
Black across the blade and the braid, with red strips laced through the handle at regular intervals. The only other colour on the paddle is the silver of the rivet and the ring.
Where the braid meets the blade there is a small lyre-and-sceptre mark stamped into the leather. It sits on the underside of the handle, so you notice it when you pick the paddle up rather than from across the room.

Care
Wipe the leather with a soft dry cloth after use and let it air before it goes back in the box.
Keep it out of water. Soaking leather softens the braid, and a soft braid is a loose grip.
Run a fingertip along the braid, the stitched edge and the rivets before each session.
Store it flat or hanging. A heavy leather blade left folded will crease across the middle.
Keep it away from open flame, radiators and direct sun, and never use alcohol or solvent on it.

Exactly how long is it?
The official listing says the length exceeds 40 cm. The blade measures about 6 cm across and 3 mm thick. No weight or handle diameter is published — email jessie@lockink.net and we will get you either figure.
Is it real leather or synthetic?
Leather. The blade and the braid are both leather, with silver metal rivets, a ring and a D-ring at the handle end.
Does the stamped mark show?
There is a small lyre-and-sceptre mark stamped into the leather where the braid meets the blade. It is on the underside of the handle, so it is not visible while the paddle is in use.
Will it leave marks?
A paddle this long and this thick is heavier than a hand and can leave marks or bruising. That is exactly why the warm-up and the soft areas matter — see Care above and the safe-use notes in our FAQ.
Can I return it once it is opened?
No. Slappers and whips are on the hygiene list, so the item cannot be returned once the seal is broken. Sealed and unused, an EU or UK order can be withdrawn within 14 days. Anything faulty or damaged needs reporting within 7 days — full detail in the return policy.
What shows on my statement or the box?
